Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how HairGo collects, uses, stores, and protects the information you provide when using our lightweight iOS application focused on virtual hairstyle try-on. HairGo is designed to offer a convenient and personalized styling experience without requiring you to create an account or log in. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and ensuring that your use of the App is secure and worry-free. This Policy is compliant with Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines and relevant data protection regulations to fully protect your personal information, especially facial-related data.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

First and foremost, it is important to note that HairGo does not require any account registration or login. Therefore, we do not collect personal identification information such as your name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address (unless you voluntarily provide it for contact purposes as outlined below), or any other personally identifiable information (PII) that could be used to directly identify you.

Most importantly, we adhere to a strict "no facial data collection" principle. We do not collect, extract, process, analyze, or retain any facial data whatsoever, including but not limited to facial recognition templates, facial landmarks, facial contours, unique facial identifiers, or any biometric data used for individual identification. Your facial features and biometric information are never accessed, captured, or stored by the App in any form. We also do not collect other sensitive information including but not limited to financial data, health information, or biometric data beyond what is strictly necessary for the core functionality of virtual hairstyle try-on (as detailed in the following section).

Additionally, we do not collect unnecessary device information beyond the minimum technical data required for the App to operate properly on your iOS device (e.g., basic device model and system version to ensure compatibility). We do not track your geographic location, browsing history within other apps or websites, your usage of other applications on your device, or engage in any cross-app tracking that violates Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that you voluntarily provide to us for the sole purpose of enabling the core features of HairGo. All collected information is directly related to your use of the virtual hairstyle try-on service and is not used for any other unrelated purposes, including no commercial exploitation, data mining, or profiling involving facial or personal data. The types of information we collect include:

2.1 Photos and Image Data

To use the virtual hairstyle try-on function, you may choose to either upload photos from your device's photo library or take real-time photos using your device's camera through the App. When you do so, the App temporarily accesses and processes these photos or image datalocally on your device—no raw image data is transmitted to our servers or any third-party servers at any stage.

It is crucial to clarify that our image processing strictly excludes any facial data. We do not collect, extract, or store any facial features, facial recognition data, or unique facial identifiers. The only image-related elements we process are non-identifiable head shape and basic contour information (e.g., hairline position, head circumference outline, hair length and density) that are strictly necessary for the App to automatically match the selected hairstyle to your head shape, restore hair strand lighting effects, and generate high-quality hairstyle renderings. At no point does the App perform facial recognition, facial feature extraction, or any form of facial data analysis. The processing is limited to the hair and head contour area, with no access to facial details such as eyes, nose, mouth, or skin texture.

Please note that we only process this image data for the specific session in which you are using the try-on feature. Temporary image files generated during processing are automatically cleared immediately after you finish the try-on session, close the App, or navigate away from the try-on page—unless you explicitly choose to save the generated renderings or your try-on history (as detailed in Section 3 below).

2.2 Try-on History and Preference Data

When you use the App to try on different hairstyles, we may collect and store your try-on history, which includes the hairstyles you have selected, the generated renderings you have saved, and the time of your try-on sessions. This information is collected solely to enable the "try-on history review" feature, allowing you to easily access and revisit your previous virtual hairstyle attempts without having to re-upload photos or re-select hairstyles. Importantly, saved renderings focus on the hairstyle effect and do not involve any facial data collection or storage—your facial features remain private and are never retained in our systems.

We may also collect non-identifiable preference data, such as the most frequently selected hairstyle categories (e.g., short hair, long hair, curly hair, straight hair), to help us optimize our hairstyle library and improve the relevance of style recommendations in the future. However, this data is always aggregated and anonymized, meaning it cannot be linked back to you as an individual, and no facial or personal identifiers are associated with this aggregated data.

2.3 Voluntarily Provided Contact Information

If you choose to contact us with questions, feedback, or support requests, you may voluntarily provide your email address or other contact information. This information is only used to respond to your inquiries, resolve issues you may encounter, and is not stored for longer than necessary to address your request. It is never shared with third parties, used for marketing purposes, or linked to any image or try-on data.

3. How We Use the Collected Information

The information we collect is strictly used to provide, maintain, and improve the core functionality of HairGo, ensuring that you have a smooth and high-quality user experience. We never use your information for facial recognition, data monetization, targeted advertising, or any purpose unrelated to the App’s core services. The specific uses include:

Enabling Virtual Hairstyle Try-on: The photos and image data you provide are processed in real-time locally on your device to match hairstyles to your head shape, adjust hair strand lighting effects, and generate realistic renderings. Local processing ensures that your image data—including any incidental facial elements—never leaves your device, and no facial data is extracted or used in the rendering process. Temporary server storage is only used in rare cases for processing ultra-high-quality renderings, and even then, the data transmitted is stripped of any potential facial details and encrypted end-to-end.

Saving and Retrieving Try-on History: Your try-on history and saved renderings are stored to allow you to access them later through the "try-on history review" feature. This way, you can compare different hairstyles you have tried or share previously generated renderings without having to redo the try-on process. Stored data excludes any facial information and is fully controlled by you (see Section 6 for deletion options).

Supporting Social Sharing and HD Saving: The generated renderings are made available for HD saving to your device's photo library and for sharing to social media platforms. We only process the renderings for these purposes at your explicit request, and no facial data is collected, stored, or shared during this process. Sharing is entirely voluntary and initiated by you, in accordance with the privacy policies of the respective social platforms.

Improving the App and Hairstyle Library: Anonymized and aggregated try-on preference data is used to understand user preferences, update our hairstyle library with more popular styles, and optimize the App's performance (e.g., improving the accuracy of hairstyle matching and lighting effects). This optimization process never involves facial data, and individual user behavior cannot be identified from the aggregated data.

Responding to User Inquiries: If you provide contact information, we use it to address your questions, feedback, or support needs in a timely manner. Once your inquiry is resolved, we may retain the contact information for a reasonable period to follow up if necessary, but will delete it upon your request.

4. Storage and Protection of Your Information

4.1 Storage Location and Duration

We prioritize storing your information locally on your iOS device whenever possible, especially photos, renderings, and try-on history. This means that much of your data remains under your direct control and is only accessible through your device and the App. Since we do not collect facial data, there is no risk of facial information being stored on our servers or any third-party infrastructure.

If temporary server storage is required for processing high-quality renderings or backing up your try-on history (to ensure you can access it even if you reinstall the App), your data is stored on secure servers located in the United States. Importantly, any data stored on our servers is free of facial information, and we only retain this server-stored data for as long as necessary to provide the requested service (e.g., until you delete your try-on history or uninstall the App). Locally stored data on your device will remain until you manually delete it through the App or delete the App itself. Upon deletion, all data—including temporary files and saved renderings—is permanently removed with no residual copies.

4.2 Security Measures

We take the security of your information very seriously and implement a range of technical and organizational measures to protect it from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures are further strengthened by our no-facial-data-collection policy, eliminating the risk of facial data breaches. Specific measures include:

Encrypting data transmission between your device and our servers (when necessary) using industry-standard encryption protocols (e.g., SSL/TLS) to ensure that your image data (stripped of facial details) and other information are secure during transfer.

Restricting access to our servers and stored data to only authorized personnel who have a legitimate need to access it for maintaining or improving the App. All authorized personnel are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from accessing, using, or disclosing any user data for personal or commercial purposes.

Regularly updating our security systems and protocols to keep up with the latest industry standards and protect against emerging security threats. We also conduct periodic security audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.

Ensuring that locally stored data on your device is protected by the security features of your iOS device (e.g., passcode, Touch ID, Face ID), which you can manage through your device settings. We do not override or bypass your device’s native security measures.
